Give Back To Haiti WATER PROJECT
70% of Haiti’s total population of over nine million (2009) resides in rural areas. Access to safe and reliable drinking water is not available to half of the population. To overcome this problem, Give To Haiti needs the support & collaboration of our donors. Our project includes feasibility studies and design, construction and expansion of drinking water and sanitation systems, water source protection and supervision of works in areas that are in great needs for water.
Today, we continue our commitment to serving the people of Haiti, focused on community-wide access to safe water and essential hygiene education. We partner with entire communities and work directly with families, in their homes, to increase community-wide impact and effectiveness.
We implement comprehensive water, sanitation and hygiene programs in schools. These programs include clean water filters, gender-specific latrines, handwashing stations, hygiene education (including menstrual hygiene education), teacher training, monitoring and follow-up.People walk a mile with a 5 gallons bucket on their heads to find clean water. Water is essential to life!
My heart aches after the desolation, and condition of living I witnessed in Haiti. There is absolutely no logical explanation for such misery and lack of humane condition. I decided to translate my heartache into action. Give to Haiti is our way to help and put our compassion into action. For many humanitarian relief workers, it can be hard to verbalize the reason they choose this vocation. Instead, it is a feeling that compels us to answer the call for help again and again. We do all this for the love of people.
